The Young Soldier and His Brother

by Sonia Cheug

in loving memory to my cousins Nicolas and Samuel Perret .

The Young Soldier And His Brother

He stands in front of his kid brother's grave . In his solitude , wearing his pride on his shoulder and staring at the final resting place . His smile has long since abdoned him and he sheads silent tears . His heart has sank to the depths of a dark black , never ending hole . Reminding himself to breath is too much of a task .

He falls to his knees and buries his broken soul into his hands . Everyday , he sees his kid brother's reflection in the mirror and runs away from himself .

His memories have been erased and the very essence of his being, no longer exists . The sun ceases to shine . Time stands still . Living is torture . Speaking becomes pointless . Words are just empty and full of broken promises .

He locks himself away from his loved ones and doctors , who want to help him grieve . He keeps a private folder . Filled with beutifull , emotional pantings .

Every day he despices himself and wishes he could replace his kid brother's place ....

The End .
