Subtle Mercies

by Jerry Ferguson

Subtle mercies drift by, untouched, unfelt.

Shaded sunlight, silent winds moving across

where I am.

Subtle mercies then touch my soul,

softening my hard heart.

Triumphant God makes his Love known through

Subtle Mercies.

So as not to harm or startle His extreme gentleness quietly pervades my life, as it is.

Timeless movements presenting themselves

in preparation for my eyes to see,

my ears to hear and my heart to love.
