Untitled

by William Schroeder

I've never met my paramour

But I have seen her face before.

She comes to me on dreamy nights

Thru my heart's wide open door.

Her voice, at times, so distant seems,

Like hidden thoughts I can't retrieve.

I wonder how to keep her near

Safe inside my make believe.

If she would stay till daylight breaks,

So we could love for lover's sake,

My morning lips won't have to taste

The bitterness of being awake.
