A Heart's Visit

by William Schroeder

I am a droplet of rain,

Anxious and waiting,

In a shivering puddle

Outside your door,

Hoping it will open soon,

So that I might leap

Across the threshold

Of your sweet awareness,

Onto a fuzzy, welcome mat,

Where I will melt at your feet

As you say, "Hello."
