Who Really Understands?

by Geoff Foden

Tell me why it has to be

That the final vote falls down to me

You tell me I'm free, then force my choice

I'm one of the many who have lost their voice

We elect MPs who shift the blame

Year after year, it's always the same

Live as a number, never a name

Millions of figures in this crazy game

Ask my opinion, I think it's obscene

Living to rules in a mad persons dream

But nothing will alter, nothing will change

We haven't the scope, haven't the range

We'll die as we lived, strait laced and grey

Just counting the seconds, live day to day

Soon we'll be cloned and in uniform

The system destroys those who do not conform

We'll all end up mindless, a state driven tool

Living by numbers, working to rule.

It's illegal to think, to act or to plan

They'll clamp down on everything that they can

You can't wave a flag or take your own stance

Because in this society you don't stand a chance

We could always say we felt really proud

To be so unique even when in a crowd

Now you can't raise your voices or raise your hands

No one is thinking so who understands

But I hope one day you will all see

You MUST live your own life as you want it to be!
