The Root of All Evil

by Paul Hernandez

What is it that attracts us? That is appealing to the eye, mind and heart? What compels us to obtain things in life is what defines us as individuals. What, may I ask, defines you? We, as a like-minded people, are united in the desire for the next best thing. Untrained hearts and minds are led astray by the comfort of the illusion of money. There are no toll-booths in heaven. The almighty dollar holds no ground to the true, Almighty God of Creation. It has been said, You will never see a hearse towing a U-Haul. What are you willing to risk to acquire a multitude of dead presidents? Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength. I did not stutter, hesitate, nor falter. The word money was not heard from my lips. We are mistaken at times, thinking that money is the root of all evil. I wish it were that simple. In that case, we would enable one another to cast blame on something aside from ourselves. In reality, it is the LOVE of money that is the evil. Blame cannot be projected on anything but you and I. A man will lose a part of his soul for every penny he seeks in selfish gain. Ask yourselves, How bad do you want it? There arent enough dollar bills to fan yourself from the flames of Hell. Not enough coins to stack to reach the top of the Eternal Pit of Fire. Are you willing to risk eternity in Heaven for a moment of social acceptance? The rich man has worries of betrayal, thieves, and the pursuit of more. Sleepless nights are plentiful in his life. He grows bitter and suspicious with each passing day, unable to enjoy the fruits of his selfish labor. The humble man carries a light within that never diminishes. It is the source of his power. Able to endure the hardships of this world, he turns tears to smiles. The Lord blesses those who bless others. James chapter 1, verse 2 says this: Dear Brothers and Sisters, when trouble comes your way, consider it and opportunity for GREAT JOY. A mans true wealth can be measured by the amount of joy in his heart. So I ask you, Brothers and Sisters, HOW RICH ARE YOU? "
