Day and Night, Lies and Truth

by Jordan Wellnitz

The night is cold and full of darkness.

The day is warm and full of light.

So, why does it seem the night

Is so much more comfortable?

Why does the say seem much more terrifying

Than the cold, dark night?

Why am I so much more at home in the night?

It feels as though the darkness beckons me,

While the sunshine pushes me away.

Perhaps it is because the night is honest,

While the day lies compulsively.

The night is dark and hides many things,

But is honest about its mystery.

The day, however, lies about the pain and sorrow it hides.

Yes, I am certainly a child of the night,

Though I am not afraid of the daytime dangers,

Because I know the night will return to save me.
