The Beast

by Sally Loveday

My car I've had for over a year

And many miles has she done

But last night something went bang

And apparently my pistons are gone.

Just a little way up my road

Not far really she wasn't even hot

But the timing belt snapped on her

And driving around now I'm not.

I miss my car already

A Friend, a pain, a Beast

But in the last year or so

From A to B she's got us and never ceased.

So now what do I do

Scrap my friend or fix?

Depending on the cost I fear

I'm in a right old mix

My nephew's coming over

To look under the bonnet

So whilst he sorts out Freda's fate

I thought I'd write a poem on it.

So now to close I fear my car's demise

I don't think she can be saved

But on all the journeys we have had

On whole the "Beast" behaved.
