Possession of the Phoenix

by Anthony Perdue

Thurston and Morgan, two minor adventurers

Who went in search of a native legend

Known as the Phoenix

A power of immortality said to have been made

By the hands of Father Time himself

One man obsessed with power

The other man wanting virgin pleasures

Both men taking and both men receiving

Conquest and consequences

They begin to realize that they are not

Possessors of the Phoenix

But possessed by it

These men achieve immortality

As one man will pursue the other

And this cycle of conflict will continue

As a native legend

A possession of the Phoenix
