To Learn

To Learn

What is it a man can learn when he has his freedom snatched from his very grasp? If he learns nothing, he will be predestined to commit the same acts again. To learn is what makes us as a race of humans one step above other beings. Yet, we are quite contrary to our own self preservation. The analogy of putting candy or a shiny object in a tree hole for a monkey to grab is one I must bring out. Once with the desired effect, he won't let go of the object. His own hand has him trapped and he has no clue as to what or why he is trapped. Given similar circumstances this monkey will do the same thing again. So are we so preoccupied with losing our freedom that we do the same things over and over again? To learn is a gift, one which we take for granted for sure.
