the British plague
like some plague of old
a joyless oppression has descended over Britain
no longer is it apparently acceptable to strive
to work hard and imaginatively
and improve and prosper
but to reward the work shy, the lazy and untalented
often giving them more than earned by the diligent
encouraging the idle drones that infect us
really we do not deserve to survive
