all to often
in their thinking is
to chase the obvious
example
raising the level of a small stream
try to build a dam
piling, earth upon earth
then
watching the current wash your efforts away
reinforcing it with stones and twigs
more and more work
encourage the stream to make the effort
a stake or two strung with chicken wire
across its width then
an hour or two
almost invisible
leaves, bits of reed
and other debris
drifting with the current
'till
clogging the netting
soon
a dam forms
then the rains come
bringing a tree with in the current
