Sailing Home

by Corliss Cooper

Raise the mast and raise the anchors, the voyage of life has begun.

We land on shores of puberty where eagerness of learning and growth implore.

We set sail to adolescence where our world seems invincible and all for the taking.

We embark on an island of adulthood with the love of our life, seeing our children grow while nurturing them with truth.

We feast with family and friends and make merriment of which we claim a booty of LOVE.

We set sail to an age where our children have grown and now who are embarking on a journey of their own.

We sail to a time where our children's island of dreams is their paradise.

Then it comes a time we must lower the mast and lower the anchors for alas our journey has ended.
