The Never Never Fall Forever

by Stephen Mabe

Soaring high their heavenly burrow

Shortly trailed by deepening sorrow

Voices resonating the painted horizon

A stronghold of death is one's liaison

As oak crackles within the furnace

The fallen lie waste scolded for menace

Ignited and engulfed bathing in flame

The once never will forever live in pain

(Angels, Lucifer)

Molded likeness of the Heavenly physique

With a sanctified body of spiritual mystique

Devised of the soil by the only El Shaddai

Created to shepherd forever, never to die

Damnation intervened with a forked tongue

From the fruit of pleasure death was sung

And two that were given a simple task

Would curse all else while in sin they'd bask

(Humanity, Adam and Eve)

Two cities with pleasures innumerable

Lust, greed, and deception lead fallible

Love distorted in manners immoral

Bringing forth a skeleton as ocean's coral

The search for righteousness not but vain

Attempts to bring salvation, instead pain

Destroyed by fire and brimstone forever

Raining from Heaven to make the day never

(Sodom and Gomorrah)

Brick by brick and stone by stone

Underlying republic of devious tone

On the shoulders of heroism's strength

Forever to never for life span's length

One rasp in the foundation, cataclysm

Too much to deify spanning the chasm

As sandstorms sweep the lone Sahara

Now ravaged control by those para

(The Roman Empire)

Beautiful is this unblemished pearl

Snuggled protectively in spangled furl

Perfectly constructed for sea life berth

The morn it was forged was joyous mirth

The beasts from across the blue and deep

Snap its vertebrae amidst peaceful sleep

And this inlet that was great in its day

Has tragically fallen along the way

(Pearl Harbor)

Ironclad giant of the lonely abyss

Craftsmanship grand, a portrait of bliss

A voyage to span forever the ages

Conceiving its milestone within the pages

A loyal sailor with expectancy of forever

Failing despite its earnest endeavor

A fray along the belly of this beast

To fritter away for the marine to feast

(The Titanic)

Braced by steel of blacksmith's best

Certain to withhold the defining test

With bolt to brace and brace to bolt

The battery bird with devastating jolt

As over expanded ice creates its vent

Blanketing vastly to a devouring extent

Inflicting casualties to the "never will"

Those words the demons proved unreal

(The Twin Towers)

Pump by pump the beating and flowing

No indication for many years slowing

So full of step, vitality, and spirit

The death angel not found to be near it

Until the eve of the Mighty Calling

The forever to live on this rock, falling

With no forewarning, only aftermath

A brighter and better forever he hath

(A Young Person, My Friend)
