CURTAINS (From my journal 'LIBERATED STREAMS")

by Ayesha

Thief creeps soundlessly into the night,

preying on sweetness, then looting its sight,

shrouding its victim in a widow's black dress

then leaving its calling card:

BLACK EMPTINESS.

Oh, do I dare close these worn curtains tonight,

lest never again witness dawn's early light?
