Beached

by Kade Hill

I sit along the shore of my mind

minding the seashells of my dreams.

Each one a new direction

a choice not yet made.

But I just sit there,

waiting for the tide to take them away.

The horizon is my destination

The clouds my discoveries along the way

Each grain of sand is a reason to stay

Hot, burning, scorching my dreams

The sky is hope

Hope covering me

Keeping me safe

Even when my discoveries darken

I know hope is still above them

The ocean is you

Stretching as far as my eye can see

You take my seashells

And mold them in your image

You're at the end of the horizon

And even when my hopes are clouded

I can see you

And remember the color of the sky

And there aren't enough reasons to stay

That aren't diluted in you.
