The Forgotten City

by Patrick Higgins

It's almost completely empty now. These once busy streets are now filled with the garbage of its past. The sumptuous architecture tells a story of the once beautiful civilization that thrived therein. Walking down Michigan Avenue, I stare at an empty lot filled with memories from other generations. If I close my eyes and listen, I can still hear the crack of a bat sending a ball deep into left field as the roar of the fans swells in anticipation of a homerun. But then I open my eyes and I'm standing alone, remembering the forgotten city of Detroit.
