Long ago, there was a royal family that lived in a kingdom. They treated each subject with disrespect, and considered everyone in the kingdom beneath them. The royal family believed that their subjects should have to clean and work without any pay. The subjects were told that every time they cleaned their castle, and cooked their meals, they were to do it with a smile. Each subject did what they were told, but no one liked the royal family. Refusing to work or do their job, the subjects would be banished from the kingdom. The kingdom was surrounded by a tall wall that had guards at every entrance. Outside the walls was a huge forest filled with dangerous creatures. Being banished meant you would have to leave, and you would be cast out into the forest. Mia, a teenage girl, was very special and didn’t even realize it. She would never let the royal family get her down. She was very brave and extremely kind to others. Helping the subjects in the kingdom was what made her happy. Getting them food, and making sure they were taken care of was something she did every day. Mia lived in a small house all by herself. Her parents were banished on her fifth birthday. It had been eight years since she had seen them, but she still remembers them as being kind and helpful. She knew they were still alive and that she would see them again. The family that took her in after her parents were banished always told her she would do great things. They were also banished a year ago. School no longer exists in the kingdom, but that didn’t stop the people. Mia is one of the few that learned how to read and write. The family took care of her, after her parents were gone, always said your parents never want you to stop learning. There was a secret library that the royal family knew nothing of. That family, along with a few others, taught the kids how to read, and any adult who needed to learn how. The reason the family she was staying with was banished was because one of the royal guards caught them reading. One day Mia was cleaning outside in the garden and found a small door. She had never seen it before and couldn’t open it. The door had a lock with no key in sight. That day she looked all around the house trying to locate the key. When she was just about to give up, she noticed a plant with an interesting design on it sitting on the shelf. She quickly ran to it and lifted it up. Mia noticed something at the bottom of it. It was a key! Grabbing the key and running to the secret door, she put the key inside the lock and turned it. She opened the door slowly, and started walking through a tunnel. The tunnel led to the forbidden forest. Once she got to the forest she noticed how beautiful it was. Before she could enjoy it for too long she heard growling behind her. The growling was coming from a large, what seemed to be hungry, wolf. Running as fast as she could through the forest, she tripped and fell. Looking up there was a cottage with smoke coming out of the chimney. She turned around and noticed the wolf was gone. Getting up and dusting herself off, she headed towards the front door. Knocking quietly on the front door, she was nervous and excited at the same time. The door opened and she looked up to see her mother. They stared at each other for a second and gave each other a big hug. Mia started crying instantly and was then greeted by her father. After hugging for several long minutes they told her to come inside. Her parents told her to sit down because they needed to tell her something. She sat down on a maroon couch, and they began to tell her a story. They told her about their journey to the cottage, and how they left the kingdom. The reason why the royal family banished them was because the royal family was not royalty at all. Mia’s parents said that one night someone snuck into the palace and took them away. Mia looked at her parents and asked what they meant by that. They both looked at her and said, “We are the true royal family, and we got our kingdom stolen from us”.
