2. "A Case Of Bad Karma"
The episode opens with Jenna at her house the day after her party.
(Jenna is in her room on her computer when she hears a noise in her parent's bedroom and investigates)
(Jenna opens the door and sees: Nicki and Ben in bed together)
(Nicki wakes up, looks at Jenna and smiles evilly)
"You should have knocked," Nicki conveniently tipped.
"Yeah, I guess so," Jenna whispered, with tears starting to weld up in her eyes.
(Suddenly, Ben wakes up and realizes where he is)
"What the hell happened?" Ben groggily posed, as he rubbed his eyes vigorously, while trying to get up at the same time.
"I don't know, and I don't care!" Jenna yelled, storming out of the room.
(Ben puts his clothes on and chases after Jenna)
"Jenna wait!" Ben called out. "I don't know what happened. I swear to god! You gotta believe me!"
"That's too bad Ben," Jenna spun around, tears streaming down her beautiful face. "Because even an idiot can see what happened here!
(Jenna wipes her tears away angrily)
"Which is what I am for choosing you over Logan."
"The last thing I remember is being downstairs and taking a drink from my cup of beer," Ben pleaded. "That's it. I promise."
"Well maybe you can have Nicki fill in the details for you then Ben!" Jenna shouted. "But do it on your own time. Now take your whore and get the hell out of my house before I call the cops and have you arrested for trespassing."
"I would never do that to you Jenna," Ben begged. "You have to know that! I love you!"
"If this is how you treat people you love, I'd hate to see how you treat people you find insufferable," Jenna shook her head angrily. "Either way, I'm not going to be around to see it. Don't you ever speak to me or any of my friends' again, because as of now, you no longer exist to me! I should have known what I was getting into when I cheated on Logan with you. Now I felt terrible for that and will live with it for the rest of my life, and I thought you would too. But I guess I was wrong. Once a swindler, always a swindler eh Ben?"
"I felt awful for it and you know that Jenna! And I didn't sleep with Nicki!"
(Nicki walks out of Jenna's parents' bedroom with only a bra and underwear on)
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you did Ben," Nicki pointedly remarked, fingering her lips and grinning. "There's no reason to hide it. What you and I did last night was incredible.
(Nicki moves closer to Ben)
"The way we were inside of each other, it was pretty magical. You're not bad for being a supposed virgin.
(Nicki turns to look at Jenna)
"Or is that just what you wanted Jenna to believe and you do this sort of thing all the time? Because the way you performed last night, it wouldn't shock me."
"Enough!" Jenna wanted the pair out of her house, before she did something to either one of them that she couldn't take back. "I said it once, and I'll say it again. Get the hell out of my house you bastard and you slut! Don't either one of you even make eye contact with me at school or so help me god I will do everything in my power to make sure neither one of you ever gets a date with someone at Ash Port again!"
"Don't do this Jenna," Ben appealed, trying to grab her arm. "You're jumping to conclusions when you don't even have hard evidence to support your theory!"
"I found you and Nicki near naked in my parents' bed Ben!" Jenna hollered, smacking Ben's hand away. "What more proof do I need? Now I'm going to give you two minutes to get all your crap and get out, or I'm seriously calling the police. Dare me to see if I'm bluffing."
"We better get out of here Ben," Nicki eyed Jenna. "We can go back to my place if you want though. I may not have a king size like Jenna's parent's, but a queen should still do the trick."
(Ben puts his hand on his head and begins to cry)
"Why are you crying Ben?" Jenna coldly asked. "This is all a game to you remember? People like you and Nicki are one of a kind. Enjoy each other."
(Jenna walks away from Ben and goes to her room, slamming the door in the process)
Ben stands in the hallway still in shock, with tears running down his face, as the credits roll.
(Fast-forward two days later)
Ben gets kicked off the basketball team because of his poor attitude since his break-up with Jenna and because of his poor grades.
Kristi catches a softball with her eye during gym class, giving her a big shiner on Picture Day, and forcing her to think quickly in order to make her black eye as unnoticeable as possible while taking her picture, but it ends up having the opposite effect.
"Why are you wearing that hat Kristi?" Nicki wondered while they were in line.
"Why wouldn't I wear this hat?" Kristi defensively answered back.
"Wow, that's a lot of foundation," Ana chimed in, standing behind them. "It's not the right shade for you Kristi, no offense. I have some better stuff for you here if you'd like."
"Who asked you bitch?" Nicki barked at Ana.
(Ana puts her hands up in front of her body in defense, showing that she meant no harm by the comment, before walking to a longer but at least different line)
"Thanks," Kristi whispered, relieved to have avoided a confrontation that would have possibly further damaged her face.
"No prob. But damn she's right. Are you feeling OK Kris? I think you over did it with the make-up. The hat was too distracting for me to notice it at first, but now that I do, you look a bit like a…I wanna say panda?"
"Thanks Nick."
"Well it's Picture Day," Nicki shrugged her shoulders. "Not clown auditions. You're gonna see this pic for the rest of the school year on your lunch card and it's the pic you'll give to all your friends and family. I don't want you to look like Krusty the Clown. Or Kristi the Panda Clown in your case."
"I got nailed with a softball in P.E. OK!" Kristi shrieked. "That's why I look like this. I did the best I could to cover it up given the circumstances. I'd rather look like a panda clown than trailer trash."
"I can understand your point there," Nicki nodded in agreement. "I probably would too. Well let's be honest here: I would never play softball in phy. ed. on Picture Day. In fact, I don't think I'd ever play softball in phy. ed. on any day. I'd rather take a tardy."
"Well I can't afford a tardy," Kristi responded. "I want to go to college."
"Well you're certainly paying for it," Nicki uttered, as Kristi rolled her eyes at her, and went up to the podium to take her picture.
Warner becomes a "mathlete," but immediately thinks about quitting when he learns how much they get teased.
"Why is it that the things we enjoy, if it's something different from the norm, we get ridiculed for it?" Warner cried.
"It's high school Warner." Mike explained. "You've got to rise above it if you enjoy it. People don't like different because they are insecure about themselves."
"Well it makes me feel insecure getting teased." Warner put his head down. "My teammates too."
"I know." Mike nodded. "I wish I could tell you it's gonna go away eventually, but I'd be lying. So you either gotta ignore it, fight back or quit."
"There's battles to fight." Warner thought. "But I don't know if this is one of them. I think I'm gonna have a talk with my mathletes and tell them this isn't for me."
Bliss sees Jason's room for the very first time and gets upset when she sees pictures of Sports Illustrated models plastered all over his wall.
"I don't know what you're looking for in a girl, but I refuse to degrade myself like some bimbo swimsuit model," Bliss pointed at the posters. "I was wrong about you. You really are a typical guy."
"I don't expect you to be like the women in those pictures Bliss," Jason tried to explain. "The people in those pictures aren't real people to me. They're just my fantasy women."
"Why can't I be your fantasy woman?" Bliss cried.
"Because you're better than a fantasy to me Bliss, you're real," Jason took her into his arms. "What we have is real, and to me, that beats out any of my Sports Illustrated women on my wall."
Logan picks up the pieces of what's left of Jenna's heart and guides her through her break-up with Ben.
"You're a free woman now," Logan beamed slightly. "Unfetter yourself! Here, take another box of Kleenex. You've got boogers running down your face."
"No I don't," Jenna protested. "Shut up! They aren't boogers!"
"Well what do you want me to call them? Leafy treats?"
"They are tears of anguish OK?" Jenna persevered. "Green tears of anguish."
"Alright, they aren't boogers, they're green tears of anguish," Logan conceded, not wanting to pick a fight with Jenna in her current state, even though he knew he was right. "It's a good thing Kleenex was on sale at Wal-Mart. 10 boxes for $5. Jackpot!"
"Can we just move on from all things related to my nose and nose products?" Jenna begged, her sadness quickly turning into frustration. "There are bigger issues at hand here! Like how I had to skip Picture Day today, one of my favorite school events of the year, because of stupid Ben and Nicki!"
"You're right, that's really pressing. Not! So as I was saying, you need to just enjoy yourself."
"How can I enjoy myself Logan?" Jenna wailed. "He slept with Nicki. Nicki! I can't show my face in this town again!"
"Well Wisconsin state law is going to make that a bit difficult, considering you have to go to school until you're 18," Logan retorted, raining on Jenna's parade. "And by that time you've got less than a year of school left anyway, so you might as well stay in."
"I could transfer."
"You gonna stop going to parties, ballgames, doing stuff on the weekends?" Logan inquired, determined to win this argument. "You can transfer till your heart's unperturbed, but you're still gonna reside in Ash Port. Your parents aren't going to move for this, I can tell you that. So all your options of a relocation are within Ash Port's communal capacity. You're bound to run into an Ash Port Jaguar at any activity you do except maybe going to school, regardless of what school you attend. Hence why you're better off staying where you would have the proper support team."
"Whoopee do I've got Bliss and you! Big support team there."
"Hey!" Logan took offense. "I resent that! Look, I know it's going to take some time for this to blow over the 'pain radar,' but you will pull through."
"How do you know?" Jenna grumbled, snatching another tissue out of the box.
"See this flower?" Logan reached behind him and pulled it out. "It has 12 petals right?"
"Point," Jenna demanded. "Now!"
"Whenever you feel good, whenever you grin, whenever your day has gone better than you premeditated, pull a petal off," Logan demonstrated for Jenna, as he tugged gently at the pink petal. "Like now. Are you feeling better?"
(Jenna nods, as a small smirk appears on her face)
"Thank you Logan," Jenna murmured.
"You're welcome," Logan bobbed his head back at Jenna, wiping a tear off of her face.
(Just as Jenna and Logan are about to kiss and possibly get back together, Jenna's phone rings. She answers it and it's: Nicki)
"I'm calling Jenna because I have to tell you something about the night Ben and I spent together," Nicki divulged.
"I don't want to hear anything about it," Jenna countered back coldly.
"I want to be friends with you Jenna," Nicki made known. "So I'm going to be honest with you about what I did to Ben."
"What did you do to Ben?" Jenna's curiosity got the better of her, with Logan watching her silently but also inquisitive himself.
"I drugged his drink, so he wouldn't know what was going on," Nicki confessed. "I then brought him up to your parent's bedroom so we could have sex. Ben past out before we could, however, so I took his clothes off to make it look like we slept together."
"Why the hell would you do that if you wanted to be my friend?" Jenna roared.
"I don't know," Nicki exhaled noisily. "Without a doubt I wasn't thinking. I was drunk. I guess I wanted to sleep with Ben to try to make Logan jealous more than anything."
(Jenna is shocked, and doesn't say anything)
"I'm sorry Jenna, and I just thought you should know the truth before you got involved with anyone else, namely Logan," Nicki cautioned.
"Go to hell Nicki," Jenna growled, as she hung up the phone.
"What was that about?" Logan knew it was something big.
"Nicki doped Ben," Jenna disclosed. "Lugged him upstairs, yanked his clothes off and made it look like he knocked boots with her, even though he didn't. All in a meager effort to make you envious."
"Are you serious?" Logan felt the need to say, even though he knew Jenna was.
"Look, I'm going to need some time to digest all of it," Jenna looked at Logan ruefully, trying to drop a hint.
"OK," Logan was totally cooperative. "I'm here for you in whatever help you need getting through this."
"Thanks, but I'm going to need to do some thinking about this: alone," Jenna emphasized, realizing Logan didn't get her clue the first time around.
Logan finally realizes that Jenna is having second thoughts about breaking up with Ben, and decides to give her some space.
