The Final Rain

by Shaheen Roohani

Preface

She likes the smell of rain. Each droplet rhymes with that hollow heartbeating inside her. There is a quiet beauty found in nature when the heaven weeps. That restlessness has quietened down a fair bit with this rain but its still not over yet..But somehow she knew it is her Final Rain.

It has began to rain...Her eyes could hardly open but they shone bright with content. She wondered from her bed.

She likes the smell of rain. Each droplet rhymes with that hollow heartbeating inside her; there is a quiet beauty found in nature when the heaven weeps...that restlessness has quietened down a fair bit with this rain but its still not over yet..

She saw a gleam of sunshine through the leaves of that gulmohar tree...she smiled..this wind, the sun, the rain and with every breathe she takes in she sings a sing of hope n cheer....Rain and sunshine make such a wonderful thing together. She pondered over the thought that winter rain is unpredictable but there are always signs before it completely falls. She wanted her life to be the same...But its not..she falls, she recovers..and just when she thought this pain is over, it comes back. With no notice. There are those times when she preferred rain over her life...because the rain would remind her of the way she should feel and let her forget everything else..even though its momentary...

The rain began to slow down..She felt cleansed with every droplets that touched the ground..she likes falling asleep to the rain..she lets the rain sing her a final lullaby..sleep engulfed her...she is at peace. She knew it was her Final Rain.

This time she knows the pain will stop. Forever.

The Rain stopped.
