The Elements Poem

by Rylie Spencer

Preface

I wanted to write a poem that showed all of the elements- fire, earth, water, and air. Of each stanza, the first line is about fire, the second about air, the third about earth, and the fourth about water.

A glowing ember, a crackling blaze.

A cool spring breeze, a misty haze.

A blade of grass, a lump of stone.

A babbling brook, a watery zone.

Roasting s'mores on the burning wood.

Feeling like you can fly, and maybe you could.

Scrambling up boulders to be high in the sky.

Splashing around and waving as people kayak by.

Forest fires raging throughout all the trees

Gusts of wind ripping away towns with the greatest ease.

Earthquakes rumbling, shaking people all around.

Waves drowning people, waves crashing on the ground.

Fiery hearts, ideas, and minds.

Strong characters of different kinds.

Welcoming people, who have kindness and love.

Go-with-the flow personalities, who you can't let go of.

A glowing ember, a crackling blaze.

A cool spring breeze, a misty haze.

A blade of grass, a lump of stone.

A babbling brook, a watery zone.
