Snow

by Rylie Spencer

Preface

Just randomly decided to write this, but I don't think it's too bad.

Snow.

Endless snow, falling and falling, covering the world in a blanket of white.

Cold snow, falling and falling, turning my limbs numb and my face blue.

Yet I had to go on.

Pushing through the snow, never stopping. Couldn't stop, wouldn't stop. Had to get to....

Darkness. Falling. Eyes opening.

Laying awake in bed, shaking uncontrollably from the nightmare.

I knew where it had come from.

The little girl, lying frozen in the snow.

My rescue team had been sent out to find her, but it was too late.

No breath in her.

No life in her.

Because we had gotten there too late.

Because I hadn't pushed the team to get there faster.

So I had witnessed death.

Nightmares, from the frigid, lifeless body.

Nightmares, from what I could have done to save that little girl.

Nightmares, from seeing what shouldn't be seen by any human.

I didn't even know her name.

I couldn't even properly mourn her.

I could only have nightmares.

Nightmares, nightmares, nightmares.

About the girl.

About snow.

Darkness. Falling. Eyes closing.

And then, again.....

Snow.
