Set in Stone

She looked up and stared; the smell of dust filled her lungs as she got slowly to her feet. Her eyes had trouble adjusting to the blackness that encircled her. She felt around the walls of the cavern she had been put in, the hard rock smooth under her fingertips. Her eyes had fully adjusted to the darkness and she saw that the cavern stretched for as far as she could see in front and behind her, but she didn't dare walk either way. Instead she sat back against the cold stone and buried her face in her hands, sobbing deeply.
