Adult's creative writing group
Every Monday except public holidays: 1.30pm - 3.30pm at Paisley Library
A small relaxed group of 6 - 10 members suitable for beginners or advanced. Manuscripts are photocopied and read aloud during the session for feedback. Suggested tasks (such as working from a photograph or title) are set weekly and the poetry or fiction of an established writer is looked at every session. Tea and biscuits served. Most members are seniors and new members are welcome. The readers group/book club which meets every month to discuss a novel is open to non-writers.

Paisley Writers group
Every Monday except public holidays: 7pm - 9pm at Paisley Library
A well established group offering constructive criticism on technical aspects, plot development etc.

    Adult Creative Writing Group
    Every Thursday except public holidays: 7pm - 9pm at Johnstone Library
    A very relaxed and informal group of 12-15 members. Welcomes new members. Members include beginners taking their first steps into fiction or poetry. More experienced members write crime fiction, romantic and historical novels, children's stories, science fiction, horror, memoirs and poetry. Manuscripts are read aloud for comment and encouragement. The group has recently produced an anthology - Things Can Only Get Bitter (Ludovic Press).

    Adult Creative Writing Workshop
    Every Tuesday except public holidays: 7pm - 9pm at Johnstone Library
    Suitable for total beginners and those who want to extend their writing experience. Full guidance, inspiration and confidence-building will be given by Renfrewshire Writer-In-Residence, Paul Houghton. Great fun and spelling is not an issue. All welcome.

    Children's writing workshop
    Every Tuesday except public holidays: 4.30pm ? 5.30pm at Johnstone Library
    An after-school group of 12 children of 11 or 12 yrs who come in to write for an hour. Inspiration provided and there may be one or two places for new members. A very bright group, the children have enormous fun. The group runs throughout the summer holidays. Children should be referred by their English teacher.
